Fabrizio Spadini

De Lombardische kunstenaar Fabrizio Spadini, geboren in 1975, woont en heeft sinds 2009 zijn atelier in Toscane bij Perugia. Dankzij zijn voortdurende studie van de kunstgeschiedenis en zijn klassieke opleiding op basis van studies in de reclamegrafiek kan de artistieke activiteit van de schilder als gevarieerd en rijk worden beschouwd: naast een onafhankelijke schilder en kunstmeester werkt hij ook als freelance illustrator voor reclamebureaus en uitgeverijen, zoals Giunti Editore, en als conceptkunstenaar voor bedrijven die actief zijn in de sector van de animatie en de videogames.
Na zijn verhuizing naar Toscane bleef de kunstenaar gefascineerd door het licht en de landschappen die hem ertoe brachten en plein air te schilderen, zoals de kunstenaars die in de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw deel uitmaakten van de groep Macchiaioli, die met een enkele vlek licht, schaduw en kleur vakkundig vastlegden. Het was in Toscane dat Fabrizio Spadini in 2016, tijdens de Lucca Comics, voor het eerst het project OilRobonts – Futuro Anteriore presenteerde, waarin elementen van de iconografie van de Japanse animatieserie uit de jaren ’70 en ’80 op elegante wijze worden gecombineerd met de stijl en de veristische sferen van de negentiende-eeuwse schildertraditie van de Macchiaioli. Doeken, platen en tekeningen waarin de nieuwe helden, de nieuwe mythen en de nieuwe fantastische iconen die in de collectieve verbeelding aanwezig zijn, op een realistisch niveau worden gematerialiseerd: een ingebeelde en surreële toekomst van wachtende sferen, onbeweeglijk en stil, mogelijk gemaakt door de snelle, niet-materiële penseelstreken, waarin de fout van de uitvoering een belangrijk moment is in de constructie van het werk.
De nostalgische component die herinnert aan de Italiaanse kunst van de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw tot de eerste helft van de 20e eeuw, van de Macchiaioli tot de Metafysica en het Futurisme, wordt ook weerspiegeld in Fabrizio Spadini’s nieuwe artistieke projecten zoals Aenigma Robots, Oriente en Arte Settima, waarin we een nog diepere analyse van de collectieve verbeelding van de toekomst kunnen zien in een toekomst van plausibele sciencefiction.

Sommige van zijn schilderijen maken deel uit van particuliere collecties in Italië, in de USA en in Engeland. Ook zijn zijn werken aanwezig in het Rochester Museum of New York.

The Lombard artist Fabrizio Spadini, born in 1975, has been living and has his studio in Tuscany near Perugia since 2009. Thanks to his continuous studies of art history and classical training based on studies in advertising graphics, the painter’s artistic activity can be considered varied and rich: in addition to being an independent painter and master of art, he also works as a freelance illustrator for advertising agencies and publishing houses, such as Giunti Editore, and as a concept artist for companies operating in the animation and videogames sector.
After his move to Tuscany, the artist remained fascinated by the light and landscapes that led him to paint en plein air like the artists who were part of the Macchiaioli group in the second half of the 19th century, who skilfully captured light, shadows and colour with a single spot. It was in Tuscany that in 2016, during the Lucca Comics, Fabrizio Spadini presented for the first time the project OilRobonts – Futuro Anteriore, where elements of the iconography of the Japanese animated series of the 70s and 80s are elegantly combined with the style and verist atmospheres of the nineteenth-century painting tradition of the Macchiaioli. Canvases, plates and drawings in which the new heroes, the new myths and the new fantastic icons that are in the collective imagination materialize on a realistic level: an imagined and surreal future made of waiting atmospheres, motionless and silent, made possible by the fast, non-material brushstrokes, in which the error of execution is an important moment in the construction of the work.
The nostalgic component that recalls Italian art from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, from the Macchiaioli to Metaphysics and Futurism, is also reflected in Fabrizio Spadini’s new artistic projects such as Aenigma Robots, Oriente and Arte Settima in which we can see an even deeper analysis of the collective imagination of the future in a future of plausible science fiction.

Some of his paintings are part of private collections in Italy, in USA and in England. Also, his works are present at the Rochester Museum of New York.
